Hunger Action Month Events
To achieve awareness around hunger in our communities, we have planned a variety of events:
- Bridge Lighting - Orange for Hunger on September 8 at 8 pm, Riverfront Park in East Peoria
- Annual social media educational campaign on Facebook
- Lulu & the Hunger Monster readings - find a reading near you! (coming soon!)
- Wear Orange Day - September 8 - Wear orange to promote awareness of hunger in our communities.
- Hunger Action Month Community Toolkit - Learn about hunger & get ideas to help fight hunger locally. (coming soon!)
- Nourish Your Neighbor
- Tri-County Hunger Walk - September 26, 2026 - Peoria County location TBD
We invite you to take part - share information and participate in events during the month!
Hunger Walk
The 2026 Tri-County Hunger Walk will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026 in Peoria County, location TBD. Event Check-in begins at 9:00 and Walk starts at 10:00.
Donations
Monetary donations to support our local charitable food system can also be made by check payable to Tazewell County Health Department with Hunger Action Month on the memo line.

Take Action
Organize a Food Drive and Volunteer
Help support your local food pantry and host a shelf-stable food drive at your organization!

Wear Orange day is September 8th. Share those ORANGE photos and other photos of how you are showing your support - maybe by volunteering or hosting other events. You may send your pictures to Erin Luckey at eluckey@woodfordcountyil.gov or share online using the hashtag #HungerActionMonth #LetsMoveTricounty #FoodForAllAlways
